Friends of the Earth Major campaign group focussing on resource use.
National Trust Not just a steward of stately homes, but as a major landowner increasingly influential in developing rural and environmental policy.
Plunkett Foundation An organisation which promotes social enterprise and self-help as ways of regenerating rural areas.
The Ramblers (Association) Campaigns for access and properly maintained public paths
RSPB - Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Campaigns for good environmental practices as a means of supporting bird populations. Huge membership, and influential.

Country Land and Business Association The representative body for landowners and associated rural businesses. Lobbies on behalf of the rural economy.  Useful set of policy reports. 
National Farmers' Union The representative body for farm businesses.  Includes information on the NFU's environmental policies.
Royal Town Planning Institute The professional body for planners.  Includes a useful planning advice section and the Planning Aid website.
