sometimes - underpins policy decisions. Those of particular

Rural, environmental and countryside organisations

National Trust
Not just a steward of stately homes, but as a major
landowner increasingly influential in developing rural and
environmental policy.
Plunkett Foundation An organisation which promotes social enterprise and self-help as ways of regenerating rural areas. The Ramblers (Association) Campaigns for access and properly maintained public paths
Country Land and Business Association
The representative body for landowners and associated
rural businesses. Lobbies on behalf of the rural economy.

National Farmers' Union The representative body for farm businesses. Includes information on the NFU's environmental policies.
