CPRE Bucks members are invited to come along on a visit to the beautiful Hall Barn Estate gardens in Beaconsfield. on April 27th at 2.00pm.

The estate, which has Grade II listed status and is open only on request to small groups, dates from the 16th century. It covers about 200 hectares with central gardens of 32 hectares. We will visit the estate's ‘pleasure gardens’ which feature a lake, statues, beautiful ancient trees, a Temple of Venus Pavilion, a boathouse and an obelisk.
Hall Barn has been used as a filming location for various films and series. Gosford Park  in 2001, Midsomer Murders in 2004  and  Downton Abbey (2016). The location was also used in the 1981 Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire. as the home of the character Lord Andrew Lindsay, who memorably practiced his hurdling skills on the lawn by perching filled champagne glasses on each hurdle to determine if he'd touched the hurdles or not on each jump.

Take some time out for a beautiful walk, (dogs on a lead allowed), and enjoy the signs of spring!  Round it off with a cup of tea and piece of cake. The visit will take 60-90 minutes and costs £4 per person including refreshments. Please note, Hall Barn   is primarily a landscape garden and items of interest are widely spaced. Those of limited mobility may not have the opportunity to see all that the grounds have to offer.

Our group will be limited to the first 10 who apply, so book your places quickly via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
