Children’s Art Competition: Winners Announced!

To celebrate CPRE’s Centenary, we launched a children’s art competition earlier this summer.

The theme was ‘Buckinghamshire Countryside’.

We were delighted to have a great response, with a huge number of wonderful entries being sent in.

Now, *drumroll*, we announce the winners!

Category: 5–8 years

1st prize: Shannon Masters, age 5

Flowers in the Countryside

This picture represents what Shannon loves most about the Buckinghamshire countryside: spotting beautiful flowers with vibrant colours and a beautiful sunset.

Shannon’s family often go for long walks in Totteridge woods, local roads and the Stokenchurch area. They look for wildflowers and flowers in local gardens. Shannon enjoys the fields by Stokenchurch dog centre where the fields are yellow with flowers. She wanted to combine all the colours of flowers into one picture. Recently she has become interested in watching the sunrise/sunset and wanted to add this into her picture. So it’s an amalgamation of her favourite bits of nature she regularly sees in Bucks.

2nd prize: Arabella Cody-Domican, age 6

My Wonderful Garden

‘I have drawn what I can see in my garden and in the distance over the fence, in our village of Edgcott. In the field I can see sheep and cows. Colourful birds come to my garden and eat the berries from the trees and bushes. The dog barks at the rabbits that hop in the field. I like to look at the sun setting. We have an owl that visits in the morning.’

3rd prize: Frazer Light, age 7

All three received a certificate, a Centenary CPRE pin badge, Hobbycraft vouchers and membership to CPRE Buckinghamshire. Shannon also won a voucher towards an art class at artlife studio!

Category: 9–12 years

1st prize: Oriana Hidalgo, age 12

Red Kite – The painting depicts a Red Kite swooping down with its talons open on an unsuspecting mouse below. 

2nd prize: Skylar van Brummen, age 10

Chesham Moor Willow – Skylar loves the beach area at the Moor by the River Chess and this is her favourite tree.

3rd prize: Phoebe Gapper, age 9

Brill Common – Flower on Brill Common with a sunset background.

All three received a certificate, a Centenary CPRE pin badge, Hobbycraft vouchers and membership to CPRE Buckinghamshire. Oriana also won a term’s worth of art classes at art-K High Wycombe!

All six winners of our competition will be included in our Centenary Exhibition, which we expect to take place in September or October. Watch this space – and our social media channels – for more news on this.

Ten entrants also won Honourable Mentions and received certificates, including White Spire School students and the Great Milton C of E Primary School Art Club. See Nithil, Kavya and Jana with theirs below!
